Kiwanis Hartwell Committees
Our committees are where the work (and the fun) happens—service projects, fundraising, fellowship, and the weekly programs that keep us connected to Hart County. Here’s a quick guide to what each committee does.
Committee Guide
Blue Magoo
A weekly raffle where members can win half the pot; the other half supports the club’s service project fund.
Boy Scouts
We sponsor Troop 33 (Scouting USA) and support leaders and activities. We also sponsor Cub Pack 28 by providing the official representative to Council.
Building
Members take on building projects (decks, porches, sunrooms, etc.). Proceeds fund contributions that support kids in Hart County.
Bulletin, Website, Public Relations
Prepares the weekly bulletin, shares newsworthy items with the Hartwell Sun, posts updates to Facebook, and keeps the website updated.
Community Service
Identifies local needs and organizes hands-on projects—planning, coordinating volunteers, and partnering with local organizations.
Dance Party
Arranges musical performances (dances/outdoor concerts) as an annual fundraiser benefiting kids in Hart County.
Finance and Fundraising
Suggests fundraising opportunities; the Board oversees and approves proposals, and members implement the efforts.
Golf
Runs the Kiwanis Fore Kids Golf Tournament by recruiting sponsors and participants to raise funds for local causes.
Hospitality and Motivation
Builds a welcoming culture through recognition and events like the annual steak cookout and Christmas party—encouraging participation and connection.
Imagination Library
Supports Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library—free books for preschool children—funded through club fundraising and local sign-ups.
Interclub
Coordinates interaction and communication with other Kiwanis clubs locally and internationally as needed.
Membership
Kiwanis Hartwell focuses on growing and retaining members—recruitment strategies, engagement, and strengthening the member experience.
Hart Pecans
Leads the annual pecan fundraiser (sell 15 bags or contribute $50). The chair orders product; members store, distribute, and resell.
Programs
Coordinates weekly speakers and presentations. Members arrange and introduce speakers; the committee organizes the schedule.
